Saturday October 2nd was a beautiful day for a wedding. Cool temps and a clear sky...what more could a photographer ask for?
Rachel & Chris are the kind of couple that is so crazy-in-love that everyone around them just knows it. And what's so perfect about that, is that it totally translates into their photos. They're just so in love they don't even notice I'm there snapping away....and that's when I get the best images. They were wed with a beautiful ceremony at Our Lady of Lourdes here in Columbia, MO. Between the ceremony we hopped over to Shelter Gardens to take photographs. The reception was held at Lela Raney Woods Hall in the Kimball Ballroom on the Stephens Campus where the couple gave away caramel covered apples at each place-setting. Here are my favorite images of the happy newlyweds:

Kyle P: Senior Session
So Kyle P. is pretty much the coolest 17 yr. old I know. He super musically gifted, cracks me up with his sarcasm, and rocks out on the violin in the band, Man In The Ring. If you're an avid L. Frisch blog follower you might remember me blogging about photographing their show at the Blue Note on 9/25, as the first part of our senior session. This past Sunday was the second half. Kyle, with Mom & Dad, showed up at the studio with pretty much every violin and one guitar that Kyle plays. Kyle and his dad actually BUILD the violins that Kyle plays...in fact if you look at the pics you can see where Kyle has burned in his signature on the violins. Pretty cool. So we started in the studio...and eventually I made him walk allover downtown...we stopped to take pics in front of a few places that have special significance to kyle...ie: Eastside Tavern, The Blue Note, a RNB sign, and The Missouri Theater. Kyle came into this day thinking he wasn't going to smile at all...and that all his pics were going to be so serious. HA! Not that I had to go to great lengths to get a laugh out of him, because I'm pretty much a huge nerd anyway and embarrass myself regularly, but boy did I prove him wrong. Got you to smile...na na nah na naaaah! Below are my favorites:
ROOTS 'N BLUES 'N BBQ
Every fall Columbia, Missouri plays host to the Roots 'N Blues 'N BBQ festival. A 2-day event full of great bluegrass, blues, country, and folk music paired with a delicious BBQ competition. This year I had an opportunity to photograph the festival through Recess, Inc. My boss, LG, assembled a crew of 6 local photogs...dubbed the Photo Kingpin Crew and assigned us all specific bands to cover. I was lucky enough to photograph my new obsession Those Darlins and another great band (from Brazil!), Garotas Suecas. It was such a blast to get to go backstage to photograph the shows, being able to walk around freely and take pictures so up close. I didn't even have my pass at the time...I just put on my biggest lens and walked right through security and no one even questioned it. AHHHH-mazing. I caught some other acts while I was enjoying the festival, including the one-mic wonders the Del McCoury Band...they were awesome. After all was said and done I got to hang backstage, drink some beers, and 'shoot the shit' with Tab Benoit and Anders Osborne. Couldn't have been a more perfect end to a great night of amazing music. Here are the pics:
Nayvi & Chris: An Engagement Session
So when I asked Nayvi how she found out about my photography she said it happened kind of randomly through a little facebook "stalking"....we all do it, you know it's true. After stumbling upon my site and liking what she saw she got ahold of me and an engagement session was in the works. I met the couple by the columns on the MU campus and we started taking photos all over the quad. After a quick outfit change in the studio we set out downtown for some more photos. I made them walk all over the place and I stood in the street in the middle of traffic a handful of times, but everyone survived and the photos turned out GREAT. Here are some of my favorites below:
